The Holidays!

Hey everyone!

So I've been on my winter holiday break for about a week now, and it has been amazing. I finished up exams on the 17th and traveled to my mothers house the next day. I haven't really had a chance to come home for about a month with being busy with school and work, so it has really been nice to be home for a little while. I was having a bit of trouble with my anxiety, getting overwhelmed with work and school but being home has made me feel a lot better.

With the holidays comes family time, and I don't know about all of you but I do celebrate Christmas and seeing my family and friends is probably my favourite part! Tomorrow, so Christmas Eve we are having our big family get together and I can't wait! With being in school it is hard for me to go and visit family so on big holidays like Christmas I get to catch up with everyone and it's just really nice.

Other exciting new... I am no longer single. I know, weird right? This is a very new relationship as it literally started on the 18th, but we've been talking for a bit and it just seemed right. Our first date was really cute, well in my opinion at least . We were going to go ice skating, cheesy I know (but super cute), anyways when we got there they had run out of most of the sizes of skates so we had to figure out something else to do. So because there is a movie theater in our mall we decided to go see a film, and we winded up watching The Good Dinosaur. All in all this holiday break has been amazing.

Lets Talk About Mental Illness

Hey everyone,

I have many posts that begin with "it's been awhile..." or something along those lines. Again it has been awhile. Lets see, the last post I made was in July so it's been about four months since I disappeared from here with no word of why I left. Well that's because I have no real reason as to why I stopped blogging. Well no reason that really makes sense, I just stopped. I really had no idea why I didn't continue to blog until a few weeks ago where I found out exactly why.

Before I tell you why I am going to start at the beginning, or well at least a more defined time that I can pin point. In 2011 I began working at a Tim Hortons in my home town, it was my first job and I was really happy to be making my own money. However this excitement didn't last as I began getting stressed out and upset before I would begin a shift. I lasted 7 months at this job because I would cry, panic, feel sick, and miserable before each shift of work and I could not take it any longer. I took about a 6 month break from working before I began my next job for which I lasted just over a month. Again I would feel stressed and sick before each shift of work and quite soon after starting. I then took another break of about 6 months of not working. My next job I was at for over 1 and a half years and only left because I was going to university in a different city. I loved this job, it wasn't stressful, I mean it had it's days, but it was nothing that I would physically get upset at. through my first year of university I chose not to work and focus on making friends, memories, and of course doing school work. In my second year of university I began a new job in my new city and I was there for about 6 months. Again I was feeling stressed and it was kind of far from where I lived so I decided that enough was enough and I quite. This is the 4th job that I have quite. By 20 years old I had quite 4 jobs and the longest I had lasted at 1 job had only been 1.5 years. Now why is this?

Well this summer, going into my 3rd year of university I began yet another new job. I have been there for 3 months now and I love it. I mean like any job it has it's days of stress but I like and enjoy what I am doing. However, I am getting to that stressed point again which I am trying to overcome. I am trying to overcome this feeling because I now know why I feel this way.

In the beginning of October I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD.) For those of you who don't know this is an anxiety disorder characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and often irrational worry, that is, apprehensive expectation about events or activities. So basically, I worry, and I worry so much so that it effects my life in a negative way. I always thought that I was overreacting and it is both a weight off and on my shoulders, knowing exactly why I am like this. Having GAD can cause things such as fatigue, fidgeting, muscle tenstion, panic attacks, and disinterest ( there is a lot more symptoms but these are just some of mine.) Disinterest is where this blog comes in, and other things that I love that I have put aside. This mental illness, and yes this is a mental illness, has effected me and the things that I love and I am not going to allow that any longer. I am now on medication that is helping me control this, but my mind still races with thoughts that I cannot control, but because I know why these thoughts are going through my head I have a bit of myself back.

So I am going to continue blogging, but with more of a focus on myself and my life. I'm not a beauty blogger and though I like make-up and beauty products I'm not an expert so I'm going to leave that type of stuff the professionals. I love blogging, it gives me a sense of relief and has the power to help me get rid of some stress so though my content may change a bit, I'm going to be here a lot more regularly.

Creativity!

Hey everyone!

So I have a new video out on my channel and it is all about being creative. I have always been a creative person but sometimes it is hard to find some inspiration so I wanted to kind of capture that feeling in a video.  For this video I went a more film direction rather then just sitting and talking in front of the camera and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I liked having more creative shots and moving around which I haven't really tried before so I think I'm going to experiment with this type of video more.

I do already have other video ideas some like this and others with me sitting in front of the camera so do look out for those soon! I really have been enjoying making videos which I guess isn't too surprising since I've enjoyed doing it since I took media studies in grade 11 and I do spend all my free time on YouTube. Anyways here is my new video and I hope you enjoy it!

This is probably the video I am most proud of so far so I really do hope that you guys like it!

Studio Projects 2015!

Hey everyone!

So if you didn't know I am in University for Studio Art and last semester I took a sculpting course which was pretty cool so I wanted to share some of the projects I did!

This was the first project that we completed and it was a module assignment. So basically making something out a lot of the same item, in this case I used popsicle sticks. For this I was looking at fractals as my inspiration and I ended up making triangles and gluing them together and placed them in this spiralling pattern

The second project that we did was this cardboard project which we had to make a smaller item to our height. I chose to make my Polaroid camera to my height so  I had to measure out every little piece of the camera and times everything until it stood to my height. Though it doesn't seem like anything amazing this took me about 25 hours to make if not more. I was quite happy with how this turned out especially the lens, that was probably the best part of it.

This was probably my favourite project out of the whole semester. For this we had to make or own head out of foam and plasticine and make it life sized. So we had to measure out all of the proper dimensions and  spend a lot of time looking at our faces. It was so weird noticing parts of the face that people don't normally realize, like the areas that curve in just slightly on your cheeks. I mean it was really odd to have had this face for you know 20 years and not know everything about it.

This was our final project and we had to create a soft sculpture.  I used balloons and stockings for mine and it was quite the long process. At first I had a completely different idea but it ended up not working out so I cam up with this instead. Obviously it is an abstract piece that I wanted to represent organic figures so yeah, I was really happy with how it turned out.

So that is what I spent most of my semester doing! I probably spent about 15 hours on average a week outside of class on these projects so studio consumed my life the last few months. I know that these pieces are not anything amazing but this was my fist time doing sculpture and I had fun so it was a good time.

ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag Review!

Hey everyone!

Can you believe that it's already summer!? I am so happy that it is finally summer vacation and that I can finally take a moment and not be so stressed out. I really underestimated how much time my Studio Art program would take up. I had two studio courses this last semester and spent about 6 hours in class for each course and about 10 hours outside of class working on different pieces. Needless to say I was swamped with school and I am glad to be free from it for a bit.

Anyways, I was super happy to get this months glam bag because  it came around the time my exams had ended which I thought was a nice little end of semester treat. I really liked the theme of this one which was Beautifully Bohemian and it came with such a cute and summery little bag that I am already using as a travel bag for little items.

The first product I pulled out of the bag was a Hikari Cosmetics Blush in the Shade Tango. I thought at first that this shade may be a bit to bright with my super pale complexion but when I used it, it was actually just a nice subtle colour.

The next product I pulled out I instantly fell in love with because the packaging is beautiful and vintage looking. It is theBalmCosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single in the shade Fit. I really like this coppery colour and a nude shade is always good for any occasion.

I also got the MicaBeauty Eye Primer which I actually haven't used yet but I am excited to eventually use it because I actually have never used an eye primer before. So I am interested to see the difference with doing my eyes with this product.

My favourite product out of this bag is a product by Olive Natural Beauty and it is The Olive Lip Balm. I love lip balms and I always have at least one on me at all times (usually two) so I was super happy to get this. So far I really like this one and I really like that it is made from all natural ingredients.  It also smells so good that when I first smelled it my stomach growled because it smells so delicious that I could eat it, I'm not even joking like it smells amazing!

The product that I was most meh about was Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss in the shade Cuddle. It's not that I don't like the product but I'm not a big lip gloss fan so even though I really like  the coppery colour I probably won't really wear it.

So I guess that is it for now, I'm thinking about doing a little post about some of my studio projects from this semester so if you would like to see some of the pieces that I created let me know!

Playlist Live Blues!

Hey everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful February so far! As most of you know and probably have been able to tell with my lack of posts that I have been very busy with school lately. I've been so stressed lately and all I have wanted to do is write on here and I finally have the chance to do so! Right now I am on my Reading week which is basically a week break off of school. I do have a bit of school work to do during the break, but it isn't an overwhelming amount so I do have a lot of free time this week.

So as per what my regular posing schedule was I wanted to give you guys a bit of insight into the kinds of videos that I have recently been watching. I am very much the type of person who has a set of subscriptions on YouTube that I watch regularly and I am always on YouTube so it is a big part of my daily life. That is also why I began making videos, because if I'm going to be watching content all the time, I might as well be contributing to it. Anyways, for those of you who are big into YouTube you know that this past weekend was Playlist Live and I love watching all the vlogs that come from there because even though I sadly wasn't able to attend, I could still see some of the things that went on during the event. I am really hoping to be able to attend a YouTube event in the near future, I know there are some in Canada but next year I'm hoping to be able to go to either Playlist Live or Vidcon and meet all of my favourite YouTubers and maybe get some insight into how to make my own videos better.

So, this week I've basically just been watching Playlist Live vlogs from channels such as FunForLouis, PointlessBlogTv, SACCONEJOLYs, and MoreZoella. The video that I have featured is a recap of the whole weekend from MoreZoella's channel and it is so well made. I love her vlogging style and her realness in her vlogs so that is why I chose to show this one specifically. This is also a really long video, about 35 minutes, and I prefer longer vlog styled videos so I really enjoyed this one.

Anyways, have a super fantastic weekend!

Roommates 101

Hey everyone!

I hope you have all had a fantastic weekend! Last week was quite a stressful week for me because of school so I ended up going home to my mom's house on Thursday to destress a bit. I finished up a few assignments, and too celebrate and relax a bit I treated myself to a few face masks and a nice relaxing bath. I have to say this weekend helped me so much and though I do still have a big project due this week, I am nowhere near as stressed out.

However, I am not going to dwell on me stressing but talk about roommates. As most of you know I am filming videos more often for my YouTube channel and for this video I gave advice on how to be a good roommate. I currently have 4 roommates and I feel as if i kinda know at least some of the in's and out's of being a roommate.

I hope you all enjoyed this video, I had quite a fun time making and I am really excited for my upcoming videos! Let me know some videos you want to see or suggestions of how I can improve my video making skills :)

ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag Review!

Hey everyone!

Can you believe that it is 2015!? I still can't wrap my head around that! So I know that I've slacked a bit but for the last couple weeks but somehow I managed to actually have a bit of a busy schedule which was surprising. In my last week of winter break I not only got a new piercing but I also got a new tattoo which I will be talking about in a post next week, for those interested in that. I also got to see friends and I went to the movies a few times and saw Into The Woods, which was fantastic,  and the final Hobbit movie which was super good and super sad because now there will be no more Middle Earth movies :(

Anyways I'm sure what you really are wanting to know is what I got in my ipsy this month! I was really excited for the theme this month which is Fresh Start which is very New Years and whatnot and I was really wanting products that would help me feel fresh and feel my best.

The first product that I pulled out of the bag was Shimmer Powder by BelláPierre in the shade Excite. It is a silvery mineral powder so its really nice and smooth when it goes on. I think this product is super fun and is going to be great for the nights that I actually go out!

The next product I got out of the bag was an All Over Shadow Brush by Elizabeth Mott which I wasn't really excited about but it is always nice to have extra make-up brushes!

I also got a product that is perfect for me! I have a thing with lip balms I have at least 1 in each bag and I always have one on my bedside table. So when I realized I got the Mojito Lip Balm by (MALIN+GOETZ) I was so happy! I have really liked this so far the subtle mint is really nice and this is just so perfect since it's cold where I live, I now don't have to worry about my lips getting gross.

Now I found the next product to be quite the coincidence. The morning I received my ipsy I was thinking of going out and buying an eye cream and by chance I got one that day. I got the Renewing Eye Cream by Nourish Organics. I have that this is really helping with making the skin under my eye not so dark and it is super hydrating which I am really loving!

The final product I got is Pacifica's  Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow in the shade Treasure. I absolutely love this shade it's not too dar or light is is just the perfect shade for my skin type. I can already tell that this will be my new go to eye shadow!

Anyways that is it for today! I just finished filming my video for Sunday so there will be a new video up this week and I will be posting more on here this week as well!
