Hey everyone!
So if you didn't know I am in University for Studio Art and last semester I took a sculpting course which was pretty cool so I wanted to share some of the projects I did!
This was the first project that we completed and it was a module assignment. So basically making something out a lot of the same item, in this case I used popsicle sticks. For this I was looking at fractals as my inspiration and I ended up making triangles and gluing them together and placed them in this spiralling pattern

The second project that we did was this cardboard project which we had to make a smaller item to our height. I chose to make my Polaroid camera to my height so I had to measure out every little piece of the camera and times everything until it stood to my height. Though it doesn't seem like anything amazing this took me about 25 hours to make if not more. I was quite happy with how this turned out especially the lens, that was probably the best part of it.
This was probably my favourite project out of the whole semester. For this we had to make or own head out of foam and plasticine and make it life sized. So we had to measure out all of the proper dimensions and spend a lot of time looking at our faces. It was so weird noticing parts of the face that people don't normally realize, like the areas that curve in just slightly on your cheeks. I mean it was really odd to have had this face for you know 20 years and not know everything about it.
This was our final project and we had to create a soft sculpture. I used balloons and stockings for mine and it was quite the long process. At first I had a completely different idea but it ended up not working out so I cam up with this instead. Obviously it is an abstract piece that I wanted to represent organic figures so yeah, I was really happy with how it turned out.
So that is what I spent most of my semester doing! I probably spent about 15 hours on average a week outside of class on these projects so studio consumed my life the last few months. I know that these pieces are not anything amazing but this was my fist time doing sculpture and I had fun so it was a good time.
Take care! xxx
