Hey everyone!
So this afternoon I volunteered for an event at my school,
which I had to say was a pretty awesome experience. It was for previous studio
art majors who are considering my university to get their masters in fine arts.
It was awesome to see the work of the current students at my university both in
undergraduate programs and in the masters program. It made me realize that art
was really something that I want to get into, and will for sure be pursuing as
a career choice. It also made me realize other areas of work that I would like
to get into besides just photography, like metal work and print making.
There was also a fantastic lecture given by Roberta Smith
who is an art critic. I have never really head much about the critic side of
art so it was very interesting to hear her view of things. Mostly though I
spent my time outside making sure people knew where to go and answer any
questions that they had.
For volunteering for this event all who volunteered got a
gift bag, which I was unaware of, but was so mice of them. We all received basically
the same things, small variations of some of the objects but all were very
awesome.
So this is what I got in my gift bag:
So this is the envelope that it all came in. Each envelop was decorated differently than all the rest.
A thank you card from all the artists featured in the open studios.
Two packets of hot chocolate.
One of artist Jon Sasaki's "I'VE PAID MY DUES" multiples.
A print of work done by current MFA student Denise Higginson.
Two issues of Border Crossings.
This was a fantastic and much appreciated gift bag that I find absolutely amazing that each of the volunteers were given. I had an amazing time and loved getting to see what students at my university can produce. This event made me love my school even more that I did before. I guess that is all for now, any questions about this or anything I received let me know!
Take care! xxx
